Resiblock paves the way for Disneyland

A small British-based company has beat off fierce competition from major suppliers across the world to seal and stabilise the paving throughout the whole of the new Disneyland Hong Kong project.

Disney wanted the huge areas of concrete and natural stone paving in their new theme park to maintain their pristine condition and to be protected from unsightly rutting, weed growth and staining, and Essex-based Resiblock Ltd secured a contract to supply a sand joint stabiliser to do just that.

Installed was Resiblock Ultra Matt, a specialist prepolymer urethane (SPPU) which prevents the erosion of jointing sand by binding the sand in the joints. The product is also UV resistant so seals the blocks themselves, protecting them from the Hong Kong sun.

The company has already enjoyed success with domestic customers as well as various national and international projects for city centres, private housing developments and airports, but Disneyland Hong Kong - at nearly 100,000sq m - is its largest leisure facility project to date.

Chairman Craig Amor says: "It's fantastic that a British company was selected from the many bidding for this contract. I have always had great faith in our products and the fact that a huge international concern like Disney shares my faith is a great boost, not only to Resiblock but to UK industry in general."
